Typical tasks include conducting failure analyses during the development phase, documenting risk assessments, and deriving improvement measures. These specialists frequently work in interdisciplinary teams alongside design, production, and quality assurance departments. Training project teams in FMEA methodology also forms part of regular responsibilities.

Market data indicates that FMEA is requested in 30 projects and is considered a mandatory requirement in 33 % of postings. Mid-level positions are sought most frequently at 70 %, while senior roles account for 23 % and junior positions for 7 %. Freelance engagements dominate at 63 % compared to 37 % permanent positions, with 67 % of roles performed on site and 33 % partly remote. German is the predominant working language at 97 %, while English is required in only 3 % of cases.
