We wanted an honest verdict. So we built a jury.
A verdict that has no reason to flatter anyone: based on real project listings instead of gut feeling.
It started with a rejection that wasn't one
If you work as an IT freelancer through agencies, you know this sentence: “Your profile is very interesting, we'll get back to you.”
Then nothing happens. No reason, no feedback, no hint what was missing. Was the rate too high? Was a skill missing? Or did someone else simply reply faster?
We know this from our own experience. FreelancerJury is backed by webconia, a software company from Hamburg. We deliver IT projects ourselves and get booked through agencies ourselves. So we sit on the same side of the table as you.
Then we started keeping track of the market
To find projects faster, we built Nexus, a tool that collects and analyses IT project listings from public sources. New projects and job listings keep coming in there.
At some point we noticed: this data knows more about the market than any agency, any survey and any gut feeling. It knows which skills are becoming mandatory and which are going out of fashion. It knows which projects are gone after three days and which nobody wants for weeks.
And it could tell what a profile is missing. Honestly, with numbers.
Why “jury”?
Because it is not one opinion that decides here, but thousands. Every listing is a vote. Together they form a verdict that has no reason to flatter anyone: not you, not us and no agency.
Sometimes the verdict is uncomfortable. It is still better than the silence after “we'll get back to you”.
Our rules
- Data, not opinion. Every number comes from real listings. Where the data falls short, we say so instead of guessing.
- Honest, not polished. We invent nothing in your CV, and we sugar-coat nothing in your verdict.
- Analysed anonymously. For the analysis we remove your name and contact details from your CV before an AI model sees it. What we evaluate is your profile, not you as a person. Without an account, we delete your upload after 7 days at the latest.
- We keep learning. Every analysis makes the hourly-rate index more accurate, for all freelancers.
Who is behind it
FreelancerJury is a product of webconia GmbH, Gänsemarkt 31, 20354 Hamburg, Germany. We are a team from Hamburg building software for the IT project market, because we are part of it ourselves.
